The haunting beauty of  Lake Chapo was like I have never seen before.  The water was completely drinkable and crystal clear.  Yes, the walk was tiring and I was sore afterwards but it was entirely worth it.

 

The walk back to the car was quicker obviously but the 200 metres uphill took some of us about 30 minutes because we were so knackered.  The rest was a breeze although it almost rained while we were deep in the forest.  By the time we got to the car, the sun was out and it felt just a little warmer.

 

First day in Puerto Montt and what a great one it was.
